NILUFAR
Nilufar is known today as one of Italy’s most active and original galleries in the fields of historical design and antique Oriental carpets and furniture. The gallery – now housed in a three-storey space on Milan’s prestigious via della Spiga – was founded by Nina Yashar in 1979 and, since then, has presented exhibitions of an unmistakable style: always eclectic, and always to be read in novel, unexpected ways.
GDC interiors: Why PAD?
Nilufar: We exhibited years ago and this year decided to come back as we think the market is very hot in London.
GDC interiors: What are the highlights of your stand?
Nilufar: I am super proud of the genius Bethan Laura Wood, whose Criss-Cross collection chandelier we are exhibiting. Every piece is customisable in different size and colours. Also West Lake table by Massimilano Locatelli. This is comprised of six cast bronze modules and one polished mahogany module. His creations have harmonious shapes, using geography to recreate ancestral lines that also have a familiarit’s about them. In detail, the whole of the parts, creating ever different compositions, reproduces the shape of Ty lake in Hanoi Vietnam, while the mahogany element represents the Qung An peninsula and the bronze elements recall the lake water surface.
